US support for russia
We let Russia have the USSR's UN seat w/out a vote, we rebuilt Russia's oil & gas industry, gave Russia billions in foreign aid, bought tens of billions a year of oil & gas from Russia, denuclearized Ukraine & the other post-Soviet states for Russia, let Russia into the G8 & OSCE, let Russia host the 2008 Olympics (which Russia used to invade Georgia), let Russia invade Chechnya, kill Litvinenko, try to kill Yuschenko & Skripal, kill Politkovskaya, Berezovsky, let Russia invade Ukraine in 2014, let Russia sponsor Milosevic, Saddam, Qadaffi, Assad, let Russia help Assad kill hundreds of thousands of Syrians with chemical weapons, let Wagner group sponsor coups across the Sahel in Africa, we never put any NATO troops into any post-Soviet NATO countries before 2014, still don't have any permanent ground forces based there, and only have some fighters & interceptors there now for air power... we even let Russia into NATO's Partnership for Peace, which Russia left on its own accord.
If we were going to be hard on Russia, we'd blockade St Petersburg, Murmansk, Vladivostok, we'd shut down all air traffic in and out of Russia, we'd impose a no-fly zone in Ukraine and Syria, we'd declare Russia a terrorist state & ban anyone from trading with them like we did with Iran, we'd ban all machine tool sales & support to Russia, etc. We'd give Ukraine all the conventional weapons it needs to destroy the Kerch bridge & drive Russia out, as well as allowing Ukraine to use our weapons to hit targets in Russia itself.
Then, we'd break up Russia into its constituent republics, require democratic elections there, hold war crimes trials for Russia's leadership, and hang the guilty on Red Square.

We did, in the 1990s, and before that in WWII. Results: Stalin took over half of Europe for half a century, and helped Mao take over China, North Korea, and Indochina for 80 years and counting. And for the 90s, Russia started a war every 2 years, invading Moldiva, Chechnya (2x), Georgia (2x), Ukraine (2x), Syria, etc. Not to mention sponsoring Saddam, Qadaffi, Iran, Al Qaeda, ISIS, Hezbollah, Hamas, the Houthis, etc.:
