• In 2017 John McCain accused Rand Paul of working for Vladimir Putin after Paul walked out of the vote on NATO membership of Montenegro, a country where Russians attempted a coup shortly beforehand. In late April 2022, Rand Paul opposed Ukraine joining NATO in an exchange with Antony Blinken, claiming that Ukraine is "part of Russia". In 2023, Rand Paul is trying to shield Putin from The Hague under the guise of it blocking a "peace settlement". And yes, he did appear to start making air quotes around "prosecution of Putin" but caught himself. I added them to subtitles regardless.
