Pray, fast, repent before the planet

From Liberpedia

In the context of the next summit on global warming, where once again something was not added to the climate alarmists, it may be useful to look at the report of Indur Goklani[1], published this year. The author has the label of a vile trumpist, obscurantist, pseudoscientist and global warming denier - which is literally written on Wikipedia[2]. However, what is not in the report is precisely the "denial of global warming" - rather, it is about "the denial of the economic and social effects that are usually attributed to global warming." In this regard, Goklani states:

- The most extreme weather events have not become more extreme, deadly or destructive. On the contrary, due to the development of society, fewer people die from cataclysms.

- Evidence refutes claims that increased carbon emissions have lowered human welfare. On the contrary, the level of well-being today is higher than ever.

- The negative effects of warming and carbon dioxide emissions are offset by the positive effects of fossil fuel use. The space suitable for human habitation is increasing, not decreasing.

- Fossil fuels have allowed the human population to increase, while greatly improving the lives of individuals (well-being, life expectancy, human development index, etc.).

That is, it is not at all about the fact that there is no global warming (it certainly exists), but about debunking popular horror stories, apocalyptic predictions, nightmarish prophecies and other now fashionable scientistic eschatology. Implying that literally tomorrow we will all die, having perished in hell or drowned in the oceans - therefore, today we must repent (before the planet), impose penance (consumer restrictions) on ourselves and not give voice to heretics (climate deniers). Goklani in this sense is in tune with Steven Pinker, who also fights alarmism (in other areas), telling, with reference to data, that in fact we live in the most prosperous times in the history of mankind. It’s the same with the climate: thanks to technology, the market and trade, humanity is still coping and is in the black.

But all of this, of course, is pointless exhortations. People need alarmism not because it is justified. Alarmism is needed for the sake of alarmism - it allows you to strengthen the sense of community, fill life with a sense of meaning, and also rally against the "people's devils" who have been appointed responsible for imaginary troubles. This was one of my old videos [3].
