Blowback
by Tim Starr [1]
THE BLOWBACK MYTH: "Blowback" is a myth. There's zero correlation between foreign policy intervention and terrorism, for the USA or any other country. Iranians didn't start chanting "Death to America" right after Mossadeq was overthrown. That wasn't until decades later, after the US abandoned the Shah & Khomeini took over with help from all the Soviet agents who'd remained in-country since the Soviets occupied part of Iran after WWII.
Just looking at US foreign policy and bombing, sanctions, and alliances: The countries bombed the most by the US in the past century are Germany, Japan, Italy, Korea, & Vietnam. Never had any terrorists come from any of those countries to America to kill Americans (Germany tried & failed). The US has had sanctions on all sorts of countries like Cuba, South Africa, Burma, etc., and never had any terrorists from those countries come here to kill us. And the US has allied w/ all sorts of dictators much worse than the Shah, such as Stalin, Mao, Mobutu, Suharto, etc., without any terrorists coming from their countries to kill us.
The only part of the world terrorists come from to attack the West is the Ummah, the Islamic world. Saying that it has anything to do with our foreign policy is BS. That may be rightly criticized on its own merits, but is nothing more than a diversion away from the primary problem here - a theocratic vision of conquering the entire world to put it under Islamic rule in which Muslims are the only first-class citizens and everyone else is dhimmi at best.
