In full context, this interview is incredible.  This interview occurred on 23 March 2022, one month after Putin’s full-scale invasion, and about a week before the Russians were forced to withdraw in humiliation after losing the Battle of Kyiv.
Who could imagine that, 2.5 years later, this journalist’s husband would pen a revisionist history of Ukraine titled Provoked, asserting that Ukraine’s Euromaidan and Revolution of Dignity was overtaken by nazis, the CIA, and foreign NGOs in 2014 (also, the Orange Revolution of 2004 was not real).  According to Scott Horton, the agency of one million Ukrainians who came to the streets every night, around the country, during the coldest winter months, for three months, was not real; rather, the ousting of Viktor Yanukovych (who now lives in Moscow in exile, as Assad) was a “bloody street putsch” by “Hitler-loving, Jew-hating, national socialists” (mind, the only “putsch” commonly known to average people is, of course, Hitler’s 1923 Beer Hall Putsch).  Scott Horton uses the word “nazi” over 500 times in his book Provoked as he describes Ukrainians and their motives and actions for freedom.
I’ve gone through it so everyone can read the incredible contrast.  Some emphasis added. I very much agree Larisa Alexandrovna Horton in this March 2022 interview is not only excellent, but stating the reality in Ukraine, very clearly:
1.“Our [Ukrainian] culture is very old.”
2.“We are not one people [Ukraine and Russia]. We are similar people, but we are certainly not the same people.  We have very different cultures.”
3.“Ukraine has always viewed itself as part of Europe, where Russia has not. Russia is its own animal. So, very different.”
4.LAH: “Everyone speaks Russian. Every single person.”
Interviewer: “Right… Ukrainian, is another language.”
LAH: “Right, it’s completely different.”
5.“When the Soviet Union occupied… they forced everyone to speak Russian.  Russian history, Russian culture.  I keep saying this is a mental colonization, not just a territorial one.”
6.“Because the Ukrainian culture was erased for so long, what they’ve decided to do is declare Ukrainian the national language. It’s not banning Russian, it’s merely saying that this will be our national language.”
7.“They didn’t outlaw Russian. They just said, ‘We’re reclaiming our culture.’”
8.“Understand it in the context of ‘we were not allowed to speak our own language.’”
9.LAH: “Which is hilarious [Putin’s goal ‘denazify Ukraine’].”
Interviewer: “What the fuck.”
LAH: “Yeah, what the fuck is right.”
10.“So there is a small nazi contingent in Ukraine.  I think there’s 800 of them now out of 40 million people.  America and Russia have way more nazis or neo-nazis.”
11.“Nobody in Ukraine is hugging and kissing these people.”
12.“Nobody supports these people, we don’t want them there.”
13.“This is propaganda. Because it really isn’t about Nazis.  If Putin really cared about nazis, he’d get rid of his own nazis first.”
14.He [Putin] knows it’s a ridiculous argument… What he’s really saying, is, he wants to have the power to define what nazism is. And he’s decided, that any Ukrainian autonomy or identity is nazism. That’s how I see it.  Otherwise, it makes literally no sense. How do you denazify, how do you get rid of 800 people out of 40 million.
15.If he [Putin] had bothered leaving his bunker ever, or actually, learning anything other than his own propaganda, he would understand that would be impossible. We, the people of Ukraine, we don’t want any part of any of this… we don’t want to be ever abused, mentally colonized, physically colonized, by anybody. And so they are fighting.”
16.He [Zelenskyy] is a lawyer, he is an economist, he’s got an advanced degree, I love how everyone keeps saying he’s a comedian…”
17.I can’t emphasize this enough, people keep asking me, ‘Why are Ukrainians willing to kill themselves and kill the whole country… and even the President is willing to lay down and die… why?  The difference is worse than death.  Being denied who you are.  Not being able to know anything about yourself.  Being afraid to say anything in public because you’ll be arrested.  Being afraid in your own home.  Being afraid to ask a question.  Living in this kind of misery and fear.  And let’s not forget that Russia starved Ukraine and committed mass genocide on purpose. Almost 10 million people died because they stole all the wheat and all the food supplies to feed their own people. Nobody wants to live like that. So for them, you know what, fine, I’ll die, but I am not going to live like that.  Westerners don’t get that because Westerners have never had to live like that.”
18.“The Russians absolutely hated Jews.”
19.“So it’s really offensive to me, really personally offensive to me that he is [Putin is] calling Ukraine Nazi when his people killed millions of Jews.”
20.“And the Ukrainian president, is a Jew. His family are holocaust survivors.”
21.“I can’t explain how offensive it is… I mean, deeply in my soul, it’s brutal. It’s like a knife in my heart when they say that.”
22.[On Putin] “If he was playing rationally, which he’s not anymore, because you can’t do what he’s doing and think it makes any sense whatsoever.”
23.[On Putin] “It’s one thing to say, ‘Well, we’re being attacked (when you’re not),’ and then everyone’s like, ‘You’re not really being attacked.’”
24.[On Putin] “And for him, winning is by Zelenskyy resigning, Putin putting in his own government. That’s what denazifying means, because we’ve already established it’s the stupidest thing ever.”
25.“And this idea that not banning Russian language, what he’s [Putin is] really saying is that he wants Russia to be the national language. And we’ve already had that conversation. We’re not doing that again.”
26.[On Putin / Russia taking over] “We had no culture.  It was completely suppressed. And that kind of erasing of a people is what they’re fighting against.  It’s not like they’re just fighting over land.  They’re fighting against… We’ve been here before.  They’ve starved us, they’ve raped us, they’ve beaten us, they’ve put us in penal colonies, they’ve erased us.  We are not doing this again.  So the wounds are very much not healed.”
27.[On Putin] “And he’s destabilized his own government because now people want a really, he’s in the very weak, I mean, when you have to rely on Belarus as your army support, you’re in a weak position.  So, and in those terms, he’s lost.  But if you want to talk about mass carnage, like dead bodies and mass destruction, yeah, he’s going to win.  He’s going to kill a lot of people, destroy the whole country.  But what he isn’t going to do is have it… He’ll never have it.”
28.“Ukraine could be seen as the ex-wife of an abusive husband, and… this is actually a really good analogy.  The Russians are, I don’t want to say Russian, the Russian culture very much is very masculine in that way.  And to the point where they… they decriminalize domestic violence, by the way.  They have no issue with domestic violence.”
29.“This is kind of why I think some of the really right-wing identify with Putin, because he’s xenophobic, he’s all about masculine strength and white kind of identity.”
30.[On Russian propaganda and the Russian people] “Let’s say you live in the part of the country that only has one channel, Fox News.  And that channel is saying over and over and over this narrative, we’re not at war.  We’re not at war, by the way.  We’re not at war.  We are merely conducting a special operation.  I mean, this is straight out of 1984.  Right, against Nazis in Ukraine.”
31.[On almost predicting the Assad downfall, perhaps Belarus still to come] “As Ukraine goes down the toilet, so does Russia… And every territory that he’s made inroads in, Belarus, anywhere where he’s propping up governments or has pro-Russian governments, they’re all, I’m telling you, you’re gonna see Belarus start to collapse there too.”
32. [On Putin’s delusions of taking over Ukraine in three days] “But what would give him that impression?  Has he not ever met a Ukrainian?”
33.[On how to help Ukraine] “And counter the narrative that Ukraine is nazi, that, to me, is the most offensive thing.”

I’ve gone through it so everyone can read the incredible contrast. Some emphasis added. I very much agree Larisa Alexandrovna Horton in this March 2022 interview is not only excellent, but stating the reality in Ukraine, very clearly:
