• The heart of the isolationist impulse to “spend our money at home” is an irrational construct. These right-wing isolationists (they are a different type from left-wing isolationists) want a strong America in theory. So defense spending to be “prepared” is okay. But 5% of DOD budget for Ukraine is not? We should prepare to defend against Russia, but not do anything to reduce the chances that this would ever be necessary? They fundamentally do not understand military strength or the world in general.
