The result of many years of apolitical apathy of the Russian people was that a regime was established in our country, most of all reminiscent of the fascist regimes of the last century - with a dictator not controlled by either the elites or, even more so, civil society. This dictator makes all political decisions only and exclusively at his own will and desire. Completely detached from the real problems of Russian citizens, he imagines himself a geopolitical strategist, is inspired by the super-idea of “gathering the lands of historical Russia” and covers up his aggressive plans with rhetoric about threats from the NATO bloc.

Any war is a consequence of the ambitions of the state apparatus and the nomenklatura that controls it. It inevitably hits civilians the hardest. Statement by the Libertarian Party of Russia

On February 24, 2022, Vladimir Putin, on behalf of Russia, launched an aggressive war against Ukraine.

The past week was marked by extreme aggravation of the situation around Ukraine. The world watched this escalation live. Information about military provocations began to arrive on February 18, the intermediate result of which was the official recognition by Russia of the self-proclaimed DNR and LNR, claiming control over the entire territory of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions of Ukraine, as independent republics. And on February 24, the world literally woke up to a new reality. The drama unfolding these days on Ukrainian soil has overshadowed all other sad events and occasions, becoming a common grief for Ukrainians and Russians.

The result of many years of apolitical apathy of the Russian people was that a regime was established in our country, most of all reminiscent of the fascist regimes of the last century - with a dictator not controlled by neither the elites nor civil society.

Russian troops that invaded an independent country without declaring war have now set foot on the lands of the Luhansk, Donetsk, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv regions. Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, is under rocket attack - footage of people hiding in the subway and bomb shelters managed to circle the entire globe. Information was also received about the use of the Smerch weapon, prohibited by international conventions, in Kharkov - in fact, about a war crime and a crime against humanity committed on the very first day of the start of this undeclared war.

Any war is a consequence of the ambitions of the state apparatus and the nomenklatura that controls it. It inevitably hits civilians the hardest. War cripples people, breaks destinies, destroys families and destroys the future, and always on both sides of a military conflict. Regardless of whether you live in Ivano-Frankivsk, Kharkov, Kyiv, Donetsk, Sevastopol, Krasnodar, Moscow or Vladivostok, the war will hit you in one way or another.

From today we officially live in a warring country. We want to appeal to all our like-minded people and supporters: please take care of yourself. In the near future, members of the Libertarian Party of Russia will organize anti-war rallies in their regions. We will inform you about what is happening and about the responses of the authorities.

Many citizens are planning to come out on February 24 to the main squares of the cities at 19:00 to express their protest against the president's actions. We understand and support your impulse, but we ask you to take into account all the possible risks of attending such meetings.

The Libertarian Party of Russia has always consistently advocated a reduction in the role of the state, and therefore against state militarism and military adventures. Today we call on all friends of peace and freedom, all independent political forces of the country to unite in the fight against war. After the inevitable defeat of Putinism, it is these forces, with the active cooperation and assistance of the entire international community, that will re-establish Russia as a democratic country based on the rule of law and an integral participant in the dialogue of civilized countries and peoples.

Strength and stamina to you, friends, truth and freedom are on your side!
