* [https://twitter.com/WalterIsaacson/status/1700342242290901361 He told the truth in his book - he says Musk disabled Starlink. He then contradicts himself after Musk (rightly) gets pilloried for turning of the system to prevent a Ukrainian attack on the BSF, obviously under pressure from Musk himself.]
* [https://twitter.com/davidfrum/status/1700837985409753347 The more parsimonious theory however is that Version 1.0 is correct. We got Version 2.0 because Musk was surprised by negative reaction to 1.0. He apparently expected to be acclaimed as a savior of humanity, not derided as a dupe and enabler of missile attack on Ukrianian cities.]

Elon Musk, also known as “Elondimir Muskov”, is a vatnik and a wumao.
The owner of Twitter, he bought it for $44 billion and successfully brought down to $20 billion in six months.[1]
The vatnik
- Pekka Kallioniemi, “In today's #vatniksoup, I'll introduce an American businessman and social media figure, Elon Musk (@elonmusk). He's best-known for being the wealthiest man in the world, running companies like Tesla Inc., SpaceX and Twitter, and for parroting Kremlin's propaganda narratives.”, June 25, 2023 (thread) (pdf)
- Pekka Kallioniemi, “In today’s #vatniksoup, I’ll introduce a South African-American(!) businessman and social media figure, Elon Musk (@elonmusk). He’s best-known for being the wealthiest man in the world, running Tesla Inc., SpaceX & Twitter, and for parroting Kremlin’s propaganda narratives.”, June 28, 2023 (thread) (pdf)
- While the left is distracted with manufactured bullshit, the richest man in the world is hosting a panel of the worst propagandists on earth to support the worst candidate on earth for the Democratic nomination. Every single word in this Twitter Space is Kremlin propaganda. Wow. (Robert F. Kennedy Jr.)

Khrushchev’s mistake (ru:ошибка Хрущева)
Ukraine-Russia Peace:
- Redo elections of annexed regions under UN supervision. Russia leaves if that is will of the people.
- Crimea formally part of Russia, as it has been since 1783 (until Khrushchev’s mistake).
- Water supply to Crimea assured.
- Ukraine remains neutral.
“Khrushchev’s mistake”.
It is a bit odd when a US-based tech bro uses a phrase exclusively used within Kremlin propaganda.
Reminds me of 2000s era Kremlin trolls when they would just rant about super specific Russian policy interests in language no ordinary person would use.
“ошибка Хрущева” (Khrushchev’s mistake) is almost completely domestic, Russian language term in reference to Crimea, born from Stalinist Khrushchev’s oposition and Kremlin start using this domestically after 2014 to justify occupation of Crimea.

Did Elon Musk speak with Vladimir Putin?
To the dismay of Pentagon officials, Musk volunteered that he had spoken with Putin personally. Another individual told me that Musk had made the same assertion in the weeks before he tweeted his pro-Russia peace plan, and had said that his consultations with the Kremlin were regular. (Musk later denied having spoken with Putin about Ukraine.) On the phone, Musk said that he was looking at his laptop and could see “the entire war unfolding” through a map of Starlink activity. “This was, like, three minutes before he said, ‘Well, I had this great conversation with Putin,’ ” the senior defense official told me. “And we were, like, ‘Oh, dear, this is not good.’ ”

The wumao
- Elon Musk is bending over backwards to please China’s government, and his pandering points to a dark future for Tesla [3]
- Linette Lopez, How do I know so much about how @elonmusk does things? I spent 3 years investigating Tesla at @BusinessInsider from 2018-2021. Here are some of sloppy, dangerous, callous, things I learned: (thread) (pdf)
- Elon Musk: ‘Aren’t you entertained?’, October 7, 2022: ““My recommendation . . . would be to figure out a special administrative zone for Taiwan that is reasonably palatable, probably won’t make everyone happy. And it’s possible, and I think probably, in fact, that they could have an arrangement that’s more lenient than Hong Kong.””
