released from bondage and discrimination, would have their own republic, and be First Class Citizens; they would be able to
imbibe all the virtues of self-esteem and self-reliance that
people like Malcolm X were trying to inculcate in them. Also: such a Negro Republic would gravely weaken the American Imperium which would be an enormous gain. And, finally, we’d get the Negroes off our backs!!! Hence, all interests would be reconciled, and hence my enthusiasm for the Malcom Xs, the Stokely Carmichaels, et. al. as compared to the compulsory integrationists of the NAACP.

How about this for a slogan: “Black Power—in a Black Republic?”

All best wishes.

released from bondage and discrimination, would have their own republic, and be First Class Citizens; they would be able to imbibe all the virtues of self-esteem and self-reliance that people like Malcolm X were trying to inculcate in them.

Cordially,

Murray
